An Original Piece of Art, Made just for You.
How does a commission work?
Get in Touch via email with your initial ideas - this might just be that you would like a painting made of someone special or an important place.
We have a conversation! Whether that’s over coffee or in my studio if you are local… or over the phone or email - whatever you feel comfortable with. I will chat through your idea and we can discuss potential artwork ideas including scale, colours and where your special piece might go.
Once we have talked and solidified an idea that you are super happy with, I will give you a quote for the piece, considering size, materials and time scale. I ask for 50% to be paid upfront.
Using reference images (if necessary) that you supply or drawings made from in-person sittings I will begin to make your original bespoke piece of art! I will keep in touch throughout the process.
Once the artwork is completed and you are happy with the result, I will ship the painting to you (or it can be collected/ delivered around Glasgow). The remaining balance of the quote is paid.
You have a bespoke piece of art to enjoy forever.
I hope to make the process as easy, fun and exciting as possible for you…
Here is what previous commissioners have said about working with me:
“Working with Esther to create a portrait from a photo of my Dad was a positive experience in every way. Esther was communicative throughout the entire process… and together we decided on what would be the best image to paint. Esther developed the most stunning work of art. It is beyond my expectations. Every time I walk past the portrait I smile. You truly captured my Dad’s likeness. Esther has immense talent and I look forward to working with her again in the future.”

“I commissioned a painting of my late Father by Esther Douglas. Getting a loved one immortalised in a portrait felt like a slightly risky venture and I had high expectations. When the big reveal moment came I was completely stunned. It wonderfully captures not just my Dad’s visage but his gentle nature and the twinkle in his eye. It feels like it bursts off the canvas with life and vitality. I am most delighted with the portrait and treasure it highly!”
